Let’s Bring Accountability to Winfield Township

Today’s fiscal crisis is a wake-up call. Our way of life is in jeopardy because our government has been run by those who, like President Reagan, believe that government can’t work. For 30 years, we’ve seen de-regulation, privatization, jobs shipped overseas and government working mostly for the wealthy, not for all the people.
This has to change. I am running for Winfield Township Trustee because I believe to fight the Reagan apathy, we must become engaged in our local government.
In talking to residents of Winfield Township, I’m finding that most citizens are shocked to know that there is almost no debate among our trustees, and that nearly every vote ends up the same: 5-0. Do you think anybody is holding anyone else accountable?
Furthermore, this same board just voted to limit participation at the annual township meetings, which is the one time of year ordinary citizens have the same voting power as trustees.
I believe there can and should be at least one voice on the Township Board of Trustees who is listening, asking questions and working on behalf of the taxpayer.
Please vote for me on April 7, 2009. I would be honored to serve.

Green Party Candidate for Winfield Township Trustee
These economic, environmental, and energy crises are our fault because 97% of us voted for Democrats or Republicans the last election.
We might want to re-think that. I have!
